10. Throw Away Your Baggy Jeans

We know they’re comfortable. We know you’ve worn them forever. We know you don’t mind the frayed hem and the hole at the corner of the back pocket. We don’t love them. There, we said it. Get a new pair of jeans. They don’t have to be tight, but you do need a straighter cut.

9. It’s Time to Cut Out Your Cargos

Cargo shorts were great for a long time. That time is now in the past. You don’t need all those pockets. And you can guarantee we’ll love the way your butt looks in a streamlined style.

8. Cover Your Feet

Crocs are only cute on toddlers. And flip flops are for the beach (but only if you've given your toes some attention!). We’re not talking dress shoes with laces every day. There are lots of styles of comfortable slip-on shoes, from Vans to loafers. And just so we’re clear, it’s not okay to go further than the mailbox in your slippers.

7. Get a new pair of sneakers

Just like the jeans, your athletic shoes have likely seen better days. And, despite what you think, they don’t go with everything. Get a new pair of kicks—maybe two—one for working out and one for going places. And please don’t wear them to all the places. It’s ok to have more than one pair of shoes!

6. Replace Your Old Hoodie with a Pullover

Yeah, we know Mark Zuckerburg wears a hoodie most days, but that doesn’t mean you should. You don’t have to get rid of it and you can still wear it—sometimes. A pullover is universally flattering and fitting for nearly every occasion. We promise, even your future mother-in-law will like it.

5. Invest in a Blazer

Girls love a guy in a suit. Never wear one? Try it one day and see what kind of attention you get. A good-looking jacket is a casual step toward the suit that any guy can pull off. You can wear a blazer with jeans, casual or dress pants, but you’re probably not ready to put it with shorts.

4. You Can Always Count on a Button-Down

Wear it tucked in with pants, roll up the sleeves to go with jeans, leave it open over a t-shirt and shorts…the options are endless. That’s why a collared shirt is a perennial favorite.

3. Stop Getting Your Hair Cut So Short

There are professionals who cut hair and there are professionals who know how to give you your best personal hairstyle. See someone with a cut you like? Ask them where they go. Girls do it all the time because we know finding the right stylist is like striking gold. Find a good one and keep going back. It may cost a little more, but you’ll likely get to enjoy a beer while you wait. And all the compliments.

2. Slim Down Your Wallet

When was the last time you needed to pull out your loyalty card at the smoothie place? Almost everything is digital now, so you really just need your ID, a couple credit cards and some cash in a slim, streamlined wallet. Have a pocket on the back of your phone for the cards and ID? Then you don’t need a wallet at all! Get a money clip for the cash you need on hand and ditch the back pocket bulge. And, seriously, there is no need at all for a pocket full of change anymore.

1. Hit the Gym

Yes, we love you for being you. Really. But there are reasons we drool over Chris Hemsworth and Ryan Gosling and they have nothing to do with man boobs or spare tires. They are hot because they work out. Anything you put on (or take off, for that matter) is going to look better on a toned physique. Just don't overdo it on the benchpress!
