St. Patrick’s Day 2023 is almost here! This holiday occurs annually on the anniversary of the death of Saint Patrick and gives people with Irish heritage in the United States and across the world the opportunity to celebrate their culture with thousands of strangers in any given city. Birmingham has long been a wonderful place to enjoy this festive occasion. The yearly 5 Points South parade is great fun for the whole family, and that’s only one (massively fun) event in a week full of St. Patty celebrations. Here are a few happenings that we are most looking forward to this year.
St. Patrick’s Day Crawfish Boil at Birmingham District (Friday)
The fine folks at Birmingham District are starting the weekend off right with a St. Patrick’s Day Crawfish Boil beginning at 5pm. There will be plenty of great food and drinks - and a special set from The Shure Shot DJs (DJ Rahdu and Suaze) to ensure that a wonderful time is had by all who stop by.
St. Patrick’s Day in 5 Points South (Friday and Saturday)
5 Points South would have to be the epicenter of St. Patrick’s Day festivities. The parade on Saturday is guaranteed to be a highlight of the holiday, and that is only the tip of the iceberg in fun activities occurring in the neighborhood over the weekend. Nearly every restaurant and bar will have drink specials and limited edition menu items, along with live music at venues like Black Market, 5 Point Public House Oyster Bar, and Little Italy’s.
St. Patty’s Weekend Bash at Monday Night Brewing (Friday - Sunday)
Monday Night is going big all weekend with its St. Patty’s Weekend Bash festivities! Friday features a new St. Patrick’s-themed beer release, Irish food specials, and St. Patty’s gear. Saturday and Sunday will both feature outdoor grilling and games on the patio, with Saturday also including live music and another Vendor Night Market which features some amazing local creatives like Stokehold Art.
Lucky’s St. Patrick’s Day Crawl - 6th Annual (Saturday)
What’s better than celebrating St. Patrick’s Day at your favorite bar? Celebrating the holiday at 6 of your favorite drinking establishments. The Lucky’s St. Patrick’s Day Crawl on Saturday gives a day of fun and drink specials to Carrigan’s Beer Garden (where the crawl starts), Mojo, Hop City, Quest, TrimTab, and Steel Gastropub (which is also hosting the afterparty). If you are looking for adventure, this bar crawl may be the solution for you.
