If you’re like me, you’ll often find yourself craving a sweet treat to eat alongside your morning or afternoon coffee. Well, the good news is, About Town has found some of the best local businesses so you can satisfy both your sweet and savory cravings in an instant.

Birmingham Breadworks

Located at 2408 7th Avenue in Birmingham’s Southside historic district, Birmingham Breadworks not only offers some of the best handmade bread in the city, but it also offers a wide selection of pastries, cakes, pizzas, sandwiches, and soups. Owned by Brooks Taylor, this casual yet artisan bakery has quickly become a local hot spot for eating in or out.

Continental Bakery

The quaint, homely décor found within Continental Bakery is almost as warm and inviting as their baked goods! Their European inspired breads and pastries are prepared daily by artisan bakers, and they also carry a selection of vegan options such as their delicious lemon poppy muffins. In Continental Bakery, it’s hard not to make a habit of taking up a window seat to watch the world go by with an almond croissant.

Rolls Homewood

Found at 2900 Crescent Avenue in Homewood, Katie Cornutt created Rolls with the idea of family, friends, and a love of cinnamon rolls. She bakes with family inspired recipes and has become popular for the way she uses rolls in monkey bread, pizza rolls, and even cakes! She even has you covered for Valentine’s Day, as her strawberry heart shaped specials will be hard to resist.

Bandit Pâtisserie

With its new storefront coming soon, Bandit Pâtisserie has been continuing to supply Birmingham’s eagerly awaiting locals with their beautifully crafted pastries, pies and more. If you’re lucky you can find them on Saturdays at The Market at Pepper Place, as well as at their new Bandit pop up stall outside The Essential on Morris Avenue, every Saturday 9-12 until April. Hurry though, as they’re sure to sell out fast!

Cookie Fix

Who doesn’t like freshly home-baked cookies? With constantly changing daily flavors, Amy Jason’s Cookie Fix has taken Birmingham by storm, and she is even set to open a new store front in Huntsville later this year. Just some of the flavors which you can buy at either her Cahaba Heights or Homewood locations include red velvet, salted dark chocolate Caramel, Cranberry Jumble and many more! Order these mouth-watering treats online for Kraft boxes, Tins, Cookie Cakes and even frozen dough to go!
