Our home is our sanctuary. It’s the place where we rest our heads, eat nourishing meals, and make a good bit of our memories. Since so many important things take place at home, the beauty of these spaces has a direct impact on our mental well-being and perspective on life. A clean house can bring peace and positivity, while an unruly home can bring stress and anxiety. Fortunately, there are many simple ways to make our homes more beautiful. Here are a few of our favorites.

Organize

An organized home lowers the amount of unnecessary daily stress that we see in our lives. Items are easier to find while our rooms look more spacious and inviting. Labels, containers, and baskets can help keep items orderly kept in known locations.

Remove Clutter

There are many things in life that look nifty or bring cherished memories to mind, but not all of these things have to be taking up space in our homes. If you do have a lot of items that mean the world to you, try to find a primary location to keep them.

Natural Lighting

Ask any movie director how important lighting is in setting the tone if you don’t take this writer’s word for it. The windows in your home don’t always need to be covered - let some natural light in every once in a while! The beautiful Alabama days don’t need to go to waste, and the sun’s rays bring a feeling to the rooms in your home that can’t be bought at any store.

Plants, Plants, Plants

Plants literally bring new life to your home, and the impact can be felt immediately. There are endless options of colorful ferns, cactuses, succulents, and more. Find the plants that make you feel the most joy, make sure you know how to best care for them, and brighten up the atmosphere of your home.

Add Some Color

Color brings new stories to the rooms in your house. Having a consistent tone with walls and furniture is fine if desired, but there is always room for fun and a splash of adventure in the home. Find the addition that speaks to you, and add some flare to your surroundings. Art is a great way to do so, and supporting local creators is one of the most fun conversation pieces you can have in your home!

There are dozens of ways to beautify your home - the most important part is giving yourself the time and energy to find what works best for you!
