Birmingham favorite Aero Joe Pilates is marking 10 years in business in 2022 – and, to do so, is debuting a new studio space in Pepper Place, just steps from its original location.

“Our team agreed right away that this new Pepper Place space, with more square footage and visibility, was the next natural step for our brand’s evolution,” said Aero Joe Pilates founder and CEO Alison Page.

The new space offers a more functional space for its evolved business model, as both a studio and as an instructor education center. The new space offers ample parking, 3,300 square feet (enough to “spread out and house the studio’s comprehensive suite of Classical Pilates equipment,” Page said), a private lesson room, and a spacious lobby with client amenities.

In addition to Classical Pilates, Aero Joe – the longest running studio in the metro –  is known for offering Aerial Fitness – both Yoga and Pilates – classes, utilizing silk hammock fabric professionally hung from the ceiling. The new studio now has a bigger rig, allowing it to host birthdays and bachelorette events on weekends.

As a 19-year veteran Pilates teacher and a former assistant to the dance supervisor of The Lion King on Broadway, Page is no stranger to fast-paced industry shakeups like the one the fitness industry just experienced during COVID. She not only quickly pivoted the company to livestream classes early on in the pandemic, but remained determined to follow through with plans to completely rebrand and renovate a custom new space for Aero Joe’s tenth year in business.

“When I look back the feeling is not accomplishment,” Page said. “I am keenly aware of how the fault lines for small business success have shifted. The feeling I have now is gratefulness. I am thankful to the incredible Aero Joe team and our wonderful client community. We have clients and teachers who have been with us now for almost our entire decade. Those are unbreakable bonds that we share. We truly care about clients’ holistic wellness. We are humbled and energized by the outpouring of support we have received to evolve and grow the business now.”

Page worked with long-term client and friend Tammy Cohen of CCR Architecture and Interiors on the design of the new studio, which was built last fall by Grayson Construction.

To mark the anniversary, Aero Joe is offering a $78 three-session intro special, as well as private training, semi-private classes, and other tenth anniversary offers and events, which can be found on its website or Instagram (@aerojoepilates).

“This is a welcoming sanctuary space,” she said of the new studio. “This is the space you can wait to be in to destress and take care of yourself. Our hope is that this new studio is a real reflection of how much our client community has inspired us this last decade – and our goal now is another successful 10 years.”
