In celebration of National Margarita Day, here are some of the best at-home margarita recipes to try! These are perfect if you are looking for a simple night in, or you’re wanting to spice things up!

Skinny Margarita

This recipe is inspired by Birmingham’s Taco Mama, which has been voted the best place to get a margarita in town. This variation of their Skinny Margarita will surely bring that flavor you crave to your home!

Ingredients:

  • Scoop of Ice
  • 2 oz. Tequila of Choice
  • 1 oz. of Triple Sec
  • 2.5 oz. of Lime Juice
  • 2.5 oz. of Skinny Syrup
  • Floater of Grand Marnier
  • Salt or Sugar
  • Optional: Lime

Instructions:

  • Scoop ice into a cup
  • Add 2 oz of preferred tequila
  • Add 1 oz of Triple Sec
  • Add equal amounts of Skinny Syrup and Lime Juice
  • Shake well
  • Add either salt or sugar to cup rim
  • add floater of grand marnier
  • Optional: garnish with lime

Grapefruit Margarita

This drink is based off of El Barrio’s Grapefruit Margarita! Another favorite of Birmingham locals, you can’t go wrong with this fruity and refreshing flavor!

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 oz Silver Tequila
  • 1 oz Fresh Lime Juice
  • 1/2 oz Simple Syrup
  • 2 oz Fresh Grapefruit Juice (1/2 cup)

Instructions:

  • Squeeze grapefruit into a cup.
  • Add in tequila, lime juice, and simple syrup.
  • Shake well.
  • Enjoy!

Ultimate Margarita

You can't go wrong with the Ultimate Margarita! This recipe has everything you love about the fun classic cocktail, and is a solid go-to no matter the occasion!

Ingredients:

  • 1 Lime, halved
  • Coarse Salt
  • 1/2 cup Freshly Squeezed Lime Juice (about 4 Limes)
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar
  • 1/4 cup Orange-Flavored Liqueur (recommended: Grand Marnier)
  • 1/4 cup Triple Sec
  • 1 cup Gold Tequila
  • Ice
  • 1/2 can Good Quality Lager-Style Beer
  • Lime wheels

Instructions:

  • Salt glass rim
  • Combine lime juice, sugar, orange liqueur, Triple sec, tequila, and big handful of ice in a cocktail shaker or blender
  • Shake well
  • Add a splash of beer
  • Strain into salt rimmed glass
  • Optional garnish with a lime wheel
