Trying to eat healthier this year? Tired of your current workout routine and/or not seeing results? Need a fresh 2021 start to your health? We know the feeling and know it can be intimidating to start your new fitness journey. Personal Trainer and Nutrition Coach, Amanda Traywick, knows the feeling all too well because her story was the same as many of her clients. She too had to overcome all those obstacles keeping people from a healthy life.

Amanda began her fitness journey wanting to gain confidence and control over her relationship with food. Her biggest challenge, she says, was finding the real her and finding her purpose. Her turning point was realizing her true purpose and wanting to have a place where she can share what she has learned along the way. Combining her love for fitness and nutrition, her crazy obsession with psychology, and combining her passion for the community she created The Heights Fitness where anyone can accomplish their goals.

"I don’t believe in quick fixes or gimmicks. I care about your long-term success above all else." -Amanda

This lead Amanda to open her fitness studio on January 6th called: The Heights Fitness. The classes are boot camp-style classes with a focus on strength and cardio. They also provide nutrition tips as well as personal training to help keep you on track to your goals.

The gym is 2,000 square feet and conveniently located on Dolly Ridge Road right off of Hwy 280 (4232 Dolly Ridge Rd, Vestavia Hills, AL 35243). All this space is critical in allowing you to be in your own space and not feel cramped, especially during COVID-19.

Classes are 50 minutes and are offered 6 mornings a week with a limit of 8 in each class. Each class is led by a certified personal trainer that will be able to offer personalized attention.

Hours of operation are:

  • Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Monday, Wednesday and Friday includes extra afternoon hours from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Saturday's hours are 7 to 9 a.m
  • Closed Sunday

Amanda currently has two trainers including herself. Her partner in crime is Karen Cox. Karen played sports all growing up and has always been motivated to stay in shape. She started cross-fit before her wedding and realized how much she loved to be strong and she wanted to help other women be able to feel the way she did. One of the best feelings for Karen is when she overcomes her mind telling her she can't do something and her body reminds her that she can.

"Everybody is unique. Find something that works for you."

"I chose Cahaba Heights first because I absolutely love the area," Traywick said. "The area mimics the feeling that I want to offer through my business — a community of loving and kind people who just want to live their best life while pursuing a healthy lifestyle. My long-term goal for this facility is to create a business that supports the residents of Cahaba Heights, Mountain Brook and surrounding over the mountain communities in pursing their goals of living their best, healthiest life. Each and every day we have the opportunity to make choices that move us forward in life or keep us stuck when pursuing health and wellness. I want to be the place that is known for supporting individuals in their quest for wellness through exercise, nutrition and a positive community of like minded individuals." (bizjournals.com)
