With this weekend holding several celebrations including both Father’s Day and Juneteenth, it’s a perfect time to get social and catch several of the exciting events taking place around the city of Birmingham! Visit the Birmingham Zoo for great music and food at the Euphonious Music Festival or hit the greens to participate in the Jake Hayes Memorial Golf Tournament at Highland Park Golf Course. Grand River Drive-In is located in Leeds and offers not only 4 large drive-in sized movie screens, but also a Snack Shack, a large playground, and a mini golf course for visitors of all ages to enjoy. This Thursday, June 17th, Grand River will be presenting titles including Cruella, A Quiet Place 2, and Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway plus more! Juneteenth Celebration

“The Birmingham Civil Rights Institute is pleased to announce that their annual Juneteenth (Freedom Day) Celebration will return to The Birmingham Civil Rights District on June 19th at 10:00am. CST! The Commemoration will be a day-long festival of heritage and culture celebrating the emancipation of enslaved people in America. The community is invited to visit the galleries at BCRI free of charge from 10:00am until 4:00pm with times reservations to encourage physical distancing on Juneteenth.”  - bcri.org

Euphonious Music Festival

With top-name artists coming to the newly renovated Birmingham Zoo, this is a weekend of music you won’t want to miss! The massive new concert lawn will be host to the Euphonious music festival over Father’s Day weekend! With no bad seats in the house, this show will be high quality as always when presented at the Birmingham Zoo! Jake Hayes Memorial Golf Tournament

In celebration of the life and legacy of Jacob “Jake” Arthur Hayes, all proceeds of this event will be donated to the Hope for Autumn Foundation, whose mission is to provide a new hope and assistance for families battling childhood cancer and to support innovative research in childhood cancer therapies. Registration and the opening of the driving range will begin at noon on June 18. A shotgun start will begin at 2pm and the awards and reception, hosted by Cahaba Brewing Company, will be presented at 6pm. Tickets to participate in the tournament as a single or foursome are available here!

Funds raised at the event will ensure more youth have access to safe in-school learning programs, chances to attend summer camp and support BridgeWays’ programs and initiatives for children, youth and families in the community.
