2009 Pointe Ball

After the Super Bowl is usually party season around Birmingham. Unfortunately, this year many events have been forced to turn virtual or even cancel. We decided to resurface some of these events that we are missing! Here we have the 2009 Pointe Ball, an event that would usually happen around the end of January/early February.

Chaussons a Pointe

After walking on a red carpet through the candlelit courtyard of Saks Fifth Avenue, guests were welcomed to Pointe Ball 2009 by ballerinas in graceful costumes and the elegant sounds of a harpist. The annual Pointe Ball benefits Alabama Ballet’s education and outreach programs and is the company’s largest fundraising event of the year. Also welcoming guests were the ball chairs Barbara Cooney and Shannon Raine, Artistic Director Tracey Alvey and board president Kacy Mitchell.  Before the seated dinner of almond crusted halibut created by Kathy G. & Co., guests were treated to a vignette performance by Alabama Ballet dancers. Promptly at 9 p.m., guests returned downstairs for dancing to The Pat Patrick Band.
