Siegel’s Winter Wonderland was hosted by Dr. Herrick Siegel and fiancée Tiffany McCalmont at their home in Mountain Brook.
Guests enjoyed outdoor festivities including Santa in his chair as well as a two horse and carriage sleighs transporting passengers from the satellite parking at to the entrance where riders would walk up the driveway to enjoy lights leading to a hot chocolate bar.
Along the way was a silent auction where guests could bid on items virtually (including a Nick Saban signed football!). The silent auction donations benefitted Cedartown Animal Rescue, Education & Sterilization (CARES).
CARES main focus is rescuing shelter animals at risk for euthanasia. They work with several animal control facilities to pull these animals to safety when their mandatory hold time is up. Every year CARES rescues a many heartworm positive dogs, animals with broken limbs, puppies dying of parvo, emaciated animals, dogs with infectious and contagious diseases, pregnant & elderly animals, blind and deaf dogs, animals with behavioral issues and animals with medical conditions making them more difficult to place. CARES is an all-volunteer, 501(c)3 non-profit rescue organization that is licensed with the Georgia Dept. of Agriculture. They receive no government funding and rely solely on contributions of caring animal lovers. CARES operates on a no kill philosophy.
The couple recently adopted their 2-yr-old German Shepherd, Zulu, from CARES after their 3-yr-old Germans Shepherd, Rudy, passed away suddenly from Hepatic Cancer. They love to support CARES in memory of Rudy and to support all of the wonderful animals like Zulu who have been given a second chance. They say the holidays are about miracles and their goal was to raise $15K.
