anim3.bae is one of many goth music scene lovers in the Magic City, but the Birmingham DJ hasn’t always seen the opportunities present to enjoy a nightlife that caters to the darker genres. That is changing Saturday at the Firehouse Community Center as anim3.bae is joined by some of the most eccentrically talented musicians and drag artists in the city to provide a unique night of entertainment. The Lie Within Callie, Angel Fazce, and Saliva Godiva are all taking the stage, with anim3.bae closing out the night with their first DJ set that will feature music from goth icons like The Cure and Joy Division.

“I love 80s dark music, like goth music, alternative - in that region. I always loved that kind of nightlife,” anim3.bae shares, “The Batcave underground kind of vibes, so I was thinking why not bring that to Birmingham? I feel like a lot of people think we’re still dirt roads. We have everything too, it’s just more hidden. I want people to see that if they come here from somewhere else.”

The underground goth concert will have dark Halloween decorations throughout with plenty of lights and fog to add to the atmosphere - and the featured performers are some of the most loved in the city. “Callie was already a friend who is already a good performer, and she’s that kind of genre anyways. Why not put her on there? It will be pretty amazing.” Angel Fazce and Saliva Godiva are both specialists in gothic drag who excel at pushing the envelope when it comes to creativity. As anim3.bae says they are “some good people who perform their ass off.”

The evening will also introduce the world to the tunes of anim3.bae. The musician has long found joy in creative pursuits like singing and painting, with the move to DJ being on that she’s anticipated for a while now. “I just have a music bone somewhere in my body,” anim3.bae explains, “That’s where this idea came from. I love music and I want people to listen to what I have and have fun.”

“I want people to walk away like ‘There’s a place for me.’ Somewhere where I can dance the day I want to dance, listen to what I already listen to and what people don’t (typically) listen to,” the DJ shares of her hopes for the event, “Having a whole place where people can just be themselves, vibe out, have a good time, and not really have to worry about outside for an hour or two or three.” After the 8th, anim3.bae plans to continue performing and make the gothic dance party an annual event.

“Come out and have a good experience. It’s going to be good energy and cool vibes. Check out the performers too,” anim3.bae shares.
