Happy 2023, Birmingham! We hope you had a wonderful time celebrating the new year and conserved enough energy to still enjoy the many fun events ahead this week! Local entertainers handle most of the heavy lifting over the next few days with genres from goth to jug music and everything in between being well-represented. Here are a few things we are most looking forward to checking out. 

POTIS, MCJP, Gasoline Tank, The Overturn and Trees on the Moon (Wednesday)

A mind-blowing combination of genres is coming to The Nick this Wednesday night. Techno (Trees on the Moon), jam bands (The Overturn), punk (Gasoline Tank), adult comedy rock (M.C.J.P. or Magic City Jazz Punk), and a catchy blend highlighting funk, rock and roll, old school hip-hop, and more (POTIS or People of the Internal Sunshine) are all well-represented by this collection of bands that features some of Birmingham’s best musicians. 

14th Annual Hank Night (Friday)

The 14th Annual Hank Night is coming to Dave’s Pub in 5 Point South this Friday night! This fun event pays tribute to Alabama music legend Hank Williams. The night is hosted by Chad Fisher and The Hank Night Band and is sure to feature some of your favorite musicians playing some of your all-time favorite songs. 

The Dark Dance (Saturday)

Anim3.bae is bringing another one of their famed goth dance parties to The Firehouse this Saturday night! This dark and fun event will feature a DJ set from the host along with some of the Southeast’s best drag, burlesque, and live music performers. The Lie Within Callie, Angel Fazce, and Saliva Godiva all return to perform and will be joined by Caravan de Danann and Bella Donna. 

Steel City Jug Slammers - Iron City Grill (Saturday)

It’s going to be a wonderful night of music at Iron City this Saturday night! Old Crow Medicine Show is going to be blessing the main stage to start things off, then local musicians turned national sensations the Steel City Jug Slammers will play a late-night set on the Grill side of the venue. You’re gonna want to put on your best dancing shoes for this one.
