Things are heating up in Birmingham, and I’m not just talking about the temperature! The Magic City continues to expand its entertainment calendar to be full of diverse events for all interests with each new week in the year. May brings out more outdoor events, more festivals, and more fun. This second full week of the month is no exception. Here are a few of the happenings we are most looking forward to. 

Punk Rock! Over Seasons / The Paper Army at Black Market 5 Points South (Wednesday)

The punk rock scene is going strong in Birmingham, and some of the local heavyweights will be playing at Black Market’s 5 Points South location this Wednesday night. Over Seasons and The Paper Army headline this show featuring Magic City music legends like Ramblin Ricky Tate, Bradley Bell, and Aaron Greene. Art By Burx, the musical mastermind behind monthly punk rock nights in Bham, is behind this event as well. 

Magic City Wine Fest 2023 at Railroad Park (Saturday)

Everything’s fine when you add a little wine, and there will be plenty of this delicious beverage at Railroad Park on Saturday. Attendees of the 6th annual Magic City Wine Fest can expect to try a wide assortment of wines and beers from different regions with a backdrop of live music and plenty of eating options as well. 

Mother’s Day Market at Cahaba Brewing (Saturday)

Mother’s Day is almost here - have you picked out the perfect gift yet? If not, don’t fret! Cahaba Brewing is here to ensure you find the perfect uniquely special gift that your mother or a mother figure in your life deserves! The Mother’s Day Market on Saturday has an insanely long list of vendors alongside music and food options for those who’d like to spend the weekend shopping with mom in addition to for mom. 

Salvo (fka Pain) w/ The Ladies Of at Saturn (Saturday)

Hearts were broken in Birmingham and across the United States when Pain disbanded, but recent years have brought a bright new hope that many never saw coming - Salvo. The reincarnation of one of the city’s favorite musical groups will be playing at Saturn this Saturday evening with other Magic City favorites The Ladies Of

Straight Jokes! No Chaser at the Legacy Arena (Saturday)

Mike Epps. Cedric the Entertainer. D.L. Hughley. Earthquake. DC Young Fly. Comedy heavyweights are going to be in the city this Saturday as the Straight Jokes! No Chaser comedy tour comes to The BJCC Legacy Arena. This is a night of laughs you don’t want to miss out on.
