The holiday season is upon us, and many Birminghamians are experiencing their hearts swelling up at least three sizes as they pursue finding the finest gifts for all their loved ones. But where can these lovely Magic City residents turn to acquire the most heartfelt presents that their friends and family deserve? Fortunately, our city is full of incredible artists and merchants who sell high-quality items made right here in the Magic City. We share a few such spots here.

Yellowhammer Creative

Birmingham’s favorite printing shop is known for their vast variety of shirts, posters, tote bags, and more that boast the Magic City’s most exciting features. Their collegiate shirt and sweater series is a huge hit as well. But the company also takes pride in using their Pepper Place location to highlight other Birmingham vendors. Some featured items from Magic City businesses include “Boil Your Own Peanut” Kits from Alabama Peanut Co., tea packs from Piper & Leaf Tea Co., coins made from artists at Sloss Furnaces, Domestique Coffee, candles from Cicada Candle Co., Kettle Brothers Gourmet Kettle Corn, Chirpwood Frames, and the continued collection of wonderful products for a cause with WE Made Handmade Local Goods. Even more exciting – Yellowhammer is now selling premade Gift Boxes that gives a bundle of the amazing products for up to 20 percentoff.

Charm

If you have a jewelry or funny oven mitt lover in the family, then Charm is the holiday shopping spot for you. Image from Charm.

Few Magic City shops provide the experience that comes when you step foot inside of Charm. It is one of the most delightful places to visit, and allows you to support plenty of Birmingham crafters. In addition to their own products, Charm is home to Bemele Candles, Smallwoods Studios, Studio 264, Shop Marsuko, Ivy Eclectic, SoulSistah3.0, and B.B. Davis Art. If you are looking for an easy way to support genuinely good people that also happen to be talented creatives then this is the store for you.

Art Hub the Collective gives Birmingham shoppers the ability to shop local art, handmade goods, and more from the comfort of their home. They have a wide collection of vendors that can only be found in the Magic City, and are offering “create your own” holiday gift boxes, where customers can choose five items to purchase and receive free shipping! Jewelry by Casey Macon, unique soap bars by Soap Distillery, and art prints by Black Lab Studio are just a few examples.

Ore Mercantile

Nestled snugly in one of the city’s hippest shopping centers is a rare sighting in Birmingham–a bodega marketplace complete with deli. Walking in the store you are quickly greeted by an organized collection of fashion, art, peanuts, and a medley of perfect holiday gifts. Favorite Magic City brands like Faith Skate can be found alongside Howler Brothers, Katin, Nomadix, and other national names. Seasick Records, Sheppard’s Pet Supply, and Sanctum Tattoos & Comics are in the same shopping center to make it the perfect spot to spend an afternoon.

Whether you choose any of these fantastic stores or find your own favorite shop, the most important sentences in this article–and the most important lessons in this life–mustn't be about where you shop but who you are thinking of when you’re out doing so. We hope you are surrounded by those you love this holiday season, and stay safe while enjoying the company of those you cherish most.
