The iPush Foodie and Music Festival is back! One of Birmingham’s most entertaining annual events is returning to Historic Downtown Ensley’s Entertainment District this Labor Day Sunday for a celebration of all the different creative cultures that make our city so special. An all-star Magic City lineup including Love Moor, Rocki, Skoolie Escobar, John Jr., The Girl Next Door, PGDAGREAT, and more is further highlighted by more than 15 food vending options, educational panels, fashion shows, dance, and every form of creativity you can imagine. The family behind the iPush empire, led by Riko and Aquilla Harris, has had a goal of giving creatives a platform to share their stories for more than a decade now, and the festival is a thrilling way to do so.

“The goal of the iPush Food and Music Festival is to connect the creative community, and bring everyone together at one event,” Riko shares, “We want to celebrate each community’s creative space. Whether it’s fashion, music, art, dance - any form of expression. We want to invite the community to express themselves and celebrate. (We also want to) bring people to a part of Ensley that’s really beautiful and show people that this neighborhood in particular deserves attention.”

They are definitely bringing attention with their 4th edition of the Foodie & Music Festival, and those with September birthdays who are 21 and older get to enjoy the festivities for free! There are panels centered around women in small business and ever-lasting intimacy. There is also a VIP fashion show, along with a spoken word and live poetry hour. There will be multiple vegan options amongst the food trucks as well, so come hungry. “This festival is a gumbo of culture. It’s an opportunity to see different culture communities of Birmingham. That’s the main thing.”

“To be doing this in Birmingham, it means an opportunity for legacy. There’s so much room for growth, and to establish yourself and your brand,” Riko Harris explains, “For iPush, to be able to do this in this community is the opportunity to leave a lasting legacy long after I’m gone.” One way the media moguls do so is by working with colleges to have interns join the team and learn more about the process. Another is the endless valuable stories and memory-filled moments they have provided to the community.
